Message from the Principal

October has flown by and now we can look forward to the snow flying!  We had our first taste last week, just in time for Halloween.  I’m sure we will soon know what kind of winter we’re going to have.  The forecasts I’ve heard suggest lots of cold and lots of snow.  Included in this newsletter is important information to keep handy just in case.

Our Remembrance day assembly will be held next Monday, November 11.  Classes will place wreaths in honour of those who gave their lives to protect our way of life.

Progress Reports will be sent home on Friday, November 15.  The focus of these reports is on learning skills and not on academic achievement.  The Progress Report identifies strengths, needs and next steps as related to the learning skills of the various subjects your child takes in school.  Parent student teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 4 to 7 PM and on Friday, November 22nd from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

We are looking for your input on the climate of Osprey Central School.  To give your input, please go to  and enter the code: 9-HCN-128-L  when prompted.  The survey will be open until November 22nd.  Share your voice and let us know how we are doing.

With November comes Movember.  The men of Osprey are growing their faces to support men’s health. Come in and see our Mo-gress!

November is also Anti-Bullying month.  Our Bully-be-gone committee is working hard to share important messages with our kids.

Our Parent Council is hosting Ugly Christmas Trivia Night on the evening of November 15th. Presented by the Osprey Snow Hawks Snowmobile Club 15 at the Feversham Arena Doors open at 7:00  p.m. and the first question starts at 7:30 p.m. There are prizes for best dressed and top scoring table and a 50/50 draw. Cost is $100/table with up to ten people per table. Cash bar. Bring your own snacks! Tables are going quickly so get your spot booked by calling or texting Andrea at 519-374-5071 or Pam at 705-441-3659. All proceeds from this event will be going towards playground improvements.

Our fall fundraiser with Mom’s Pantry is now in full swing! With over 200 items, Mom’s Pantry offers everything from spices, teas, soups, and spreads to our favourite cookie doughs, ready-to-bake treats, and snacks - something for everyone and just in time for your holiday baking needs! Catalogues have been sent home and orders can be placed on the blue order forms or online. Be sure to indicate at checkout you are making a fundraiser purchase and use our school order number 299217 and group passcode 29908 at checkout! Extra order forms are available in the school office. All cheques are to be made payable to Osprey Central.

Orders must be returned to the school or placed online by Monday, November 18. Pickup for orders is scheduled for the day of the Christmas concert, Wednesday, December 18. All proceeds will go towards continued upgrades around the school and funding for school trips.
